What is a Rosewater Cleanser?
Among the natural products that are most valuing for beauty, rose water has a special place.
It is the most widely used toner to cleanse the face and facilitate makeup removal, but most of the products that are marketing are nothing more than flavored distilled water.
A simple product to which cosmetic companies often add other ingredients, so if we want something more natural, we can try making homemade rose water.
How to make homemade rosewater for facial cleansing?
In the market, we can find rose water with the addition of vitamins or minerals, but also biphasic tonics that contain both flavored distilled water and emollient oils.
These products should be shaken just before mixing the two separate components to facilitate makeup removal and act as a toner and cleanser.
However, classic rosewater cleanser is always the most advisable option, since, in this way, we can use it regardless of the type of skin we have since it is even recommending for the most sensitive skin.
Therefore, an excellent way to have an even more natural product is to do it at home in a few steps.
Ingredients:
- Simple distilled water, the one we use for the iron, and fresh rose petals.
Tips :
- The doses are approximately one liter of water for a dozen roses from which we have removed the petals.
- We can find bags of dried petals usually sold in decoration or fragrance stores, and use them.
- However, let’s make sure that they have not been treated with any protective substance or perfumes, because in this case, they may not be safe for our skin.
- Procedure :
- In a saucepan, we put the distilled water and the rosewater cleanser with rose petals and cover the container with a lid, lighting the fire.
- When it boils, lower it to a minimum and let it simmer until the color of the petals fades, and the water begins to color slightly.
- You don’t have to be continually checking, as this will happen when at least 10-15 minutes have passed.
- Of course, make sure the fire is always low, and if you want, it will not hurt to stir from time to time.
- When the color of the petals has faded, it will be time to put out the fire, and we keep the lid on so the roses are still infusing in the distilled water.
- As soon as the liquid is cold, we use a piece of cheesecloth to filter the homemade rose water into a glass bottle with an airtight seal.
- We keep it in the fridge, and we can use our rose water as a tonic or makeup remover (added to a good soap) for several weeks.
